Traditional Cofan culture

Our Cofán friends have a strong culture, maintain a rare language, and have traditional artisanship. Spend a day or a week with them to learn about traditional Amazon lifestyles and communities.

We strongly recommend asking for a story from an elder in traditional language. When the community is ready and for larger groups they sometimes offer traditional song and dance to visitors but this is a special event and we don’t ask for it unless it’s something they want to share.

Traditional food preparation, jewelry making, and hunter-gatherer activities are usually ongoing and depending on the community you can tag along and participate.
