Donations

We work in areas of the world that often lack bridging capital — outside connections to solve problems. Sometimes our communities come to us with important needs that are unrelated to Savimbo, and as a B-corp it is within our mandate to advocate for them. See current focus areas and past projects below, please note:

  • Charitable projects are an independent arm of Savimbo. Projects are initiated and prioritized by the community itself based on need, unrelated to Savimbo’s core operations.

  • These are charitable projects for the general public in the regions we work in, not just for Savimbo affiliates.

  • They are processed through an independent charity, our US 501(c)3 nonprofit Empulsive Ink (legal name Empulsive Inc., ein 88-1869344) with separate accounting and accountability.

  • 100% of charitable donations are deployed in the target area specified — charitable operations are subsidized, but not directed by, Savimbo.

Our charitable partners

Savimbo is raising emergency funds to sponsor indigenous leaders to represent themselves independently on the world stage on the topic of biodiversity science, biodiversity crediting, and biodiversity regulation.

Savimbo is a B-corp. We only assist on short-term charitable projects that local leaders initiate as both high-priority and high-impact.

Our current projects are below.

Indigenous leaders

  • Indigenous leaders guard an estimated 80% of the biodiversity on the planet. They are urgently being asked to attend events on the world stage to determine the fate of this market: United Nations, World Economic Forum, Taskforce for Nature Related Disclosures, International Advisory Panel on Biodiversity Credits. These are very difficult meetings for leaders from the deep jungle to attend. They have to get internet access, travel long distances, write and email letters and get consensus from their communities. It is practically a full-time job. And if they DON’T attend the market will decide for them. It’s critical we get them independent sponsorship to speak for their sovereign nations.

  • We pay leaders a living wage to take the time to go to meetings, and expenses related to meetings. Any money paid to a leader for their time is mirrored in a donation to their community fund so the community can do grassroots climate action, educate youth on leadership, research their biodiversity, and create communications material.

Land for the Embera’s

  • The Embera chami are a displaced indigenous group that have been tracking jaguars for us for months. They lost the game of musical chairs for land rights and the neighboring tribes have asked us to help them out so they can also live in the jungle, preserve their native language and arts, and take care of their elders.

  • We plan to buy a plot of land for $18k dollars that is deep enough to be self-sustaining from carbon and biodiversity credit revenue, and also has a small house and subsistence farm for the 50 tribal members.

Veterinary care

  • Smallfarmers often bring us injured or captive animals from the jungle. And many of the ecotourists visiting this area have been disappointed at the pet care available. But after talking with the local leaders it has become apparent that services for people are very limited, and people need help to provide better services.

  • Savimbo was lucky to enroll a local smallfarmer who is a retired veterinarian. He assisted us to come up with clear and transparent pricing for spaying, neutering, and deworming for pets. We can also get advice from him about injured jungle animals and their rehabilitation. We will provide services for as many pets as we can obtain donations for.

Community art

  • There is very little art economy in the deep jungle, but it’s culturally important to the community, a strong local signal of cultural health, and directly related to the status of, and resources for women in many of the indigenous groups we work with.

  • We have a nonprofit art gallery that buys art at local rates, sells art to visiting ecotourists for an increased price, and cycles 50% of revenue gained back to the artist, and 50% into buying more art. Artisan list coming soon!

Women’s health

  • We were originally asked by matriarchs to create a women’s shelter. But it became apparent that it was better to prevent domestic violence by economically empowering women in vulnerable circumstances.

  • Based on a successful project run by Indigenous women, we created La Projecto de Pollo Gigante, which drops incubators and eggs with one woman, then buys the chicks and gives them to the next to raise and sell. The charity pays supplies, feed, and eggs until they get their new business running and producing independent income.

Women are awesome!

  • Crypto donations are early in development. Currently, we cannot determine which specific project crypto donations are intended for so all crypto funds are evenly distributed between our four sponsored projects:

Savimbo: Reforesting in the Columbian Amazon

    Techrentice: Training disadvantaged high-IQ technologists

    Empulse: Digital donations for homelessnes

100 Ideas Cafe: Incubator for ideas that can help 1 billion people.

  • Refund policy

All cryptocurrency donations made to Empulsive Ink or any of its sub-projects (i.e. Savimbo, Techrentice, or Empulse) are nonrefundable.

Our nonprofit works hard to ensure that every token that is donated is put to work as soon as possible. When we receive your donation it is understood that this is made to support the stated mission and they are grateful for your support. As these donations are often immediately converted into fiat, we do not offer refunds on any donations that are made in cryptocurrency.

We are not able give refunds if you changed your mind, sent the wrong cryptocurrency or made the wrong decision.

Empulsive Ink does not, has not, and will never offer any form of cryptocurrency airdrop, goods or services in return for a donation.

  • The Savimbo project is B-corp partnership that includes the US-based 501(c)3 nonprofit Empulsive Ink. Our for-profit arm creates, certifies, and sells fair-trade carbon offsets for shared profits. Our nonprofit arm helps farmers who require subsidies to participate in the international carbon market. The subsidies are very individual, as equity should be. Sometimes growers need mobile phones, bank accounts, or childcare. Sometimes they need regional infrastructure like public internet stations, wells, hospitals, or roads. We work in rural regions with many autonomous indigenous nations that have limited public funds and we consider these communities valuable partners.

The nonprofit is there to make it possible for subsistence farmers in tropical forests to preserve their lands. Empulsive Ink also contributes to formation of, and international recognition for, indigenous-led land DAOs. We want our growers to be independent, but if they need help to get there, they won’t get left behind.

  • Yes, you really can lower your taxes by donating crypto.

Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event. Donors do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated crypto that is donated and can typically deduct the fair market value of the donation on their taxes. This often makes Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax-efficient ways to support your favorite cause.

We’re happy to provide a crypto-savvy tax professional if you want to learn more.

You can also donate directly to Savimbo projects by crypto.
