Linguistics (Indigenous languages)
A super cool and unique Savimbo experience is a day with a guide who speaks an ancient, rare, or endangered language. The communities we work with are actively fighting to document and preserve their languages and this is a way to both reinforce their value, and learn about the jungle with a different mindset. Each indigenous language is a living archive of knowledge. By learning a few words or phrases, you connect with ancient ways of interpreting medicine, stars, animals and landscapes. It is not just about communication, but about adopting a worldview where everything is interrelated and language reflects that sacred connection to life.
Many concepts about Nature and ecology are fluidly embedded in native languages, intertwined with elegant concepts about spirituality and life transitions. The experience goes beyond ecotourism: it is a profound and respectful exchange. As a visitor, you take away new ways of thinking and communicating; as a community, you strengthen your cultural pride and open spaces for indigenous languages to continue to live and evolve in the present.
Currently, we offer experiences in Cofán and Embera languages, but we can arrange other languages for an expert or advanced traveler.
We specialize in biodiverse ecosystems, protected fairly by locals, and conscious travel. It’s important to us that travelers prepare adequately to have a meaningful experience of connection, cultural exchange, and direct connection with Nature, which is awesome! We 💜 ecotourists!
