Agrobiodiversity chocolate production.
Our smallfarmers are uber-nerds about sustainable farming and we have a number of sites you can visit to explore how cacao is organically farmed, grown in chagras (with other species to increase yield and reduce pests) and more.
During the season you can participate in cacao agroforestry planting, or harvest. Nothing tastes better than wild jungle cacao which is a different species and highly prized for its medicinal value!
Cacao is not just chocolate: it is part of an ancestral tradition. In many indigenous communities, wild cacao has a medicinal role.
Every chocolate bar you buy directly supports small farmers committed to biodiversity, agroforestry and rainforest conservation. Here, sustainability is not a fad, it's a way of life.
Come, plant, harvest, taste and learn. Whether you want to get your hands dirty or simply enjoy cacao in its place of origin, we have something special for you. Our tours also connect you with the stories of the guardians of cacao: the families who, with patience and dedication, have rescued native varieties that are nearly extinct. Each bean they harvest carries with it traditional knowledge and a vision of the future that bets on food sovereignty and forest regeneration.
